Hemel Hempstead Town 3 Truro City 0
Like all the eight other teams who had previously visited Hemel Hempstead’s Vauxhall Road ground in the Calor League premier division, City came away empty handed.
And the win took the Hertfordshire side to the top of the table in place of Chesham United, who surprisingly lost 2-1 at home to Burnham, while defeat dropped City down three places to 17th.
It was always going to be a tough task for Steve Massey’s side and they had to thank keeper Grant Fisher for some fine saves to keep them in the match.
But he was beaten after 33 minutes when Kieran Murphy headed home David Hutton’s corner.
City though continued to battle hard and their opportunities, before going 2-0 down after 71 minutes when David Pearce scored with a fine volley from the right and then substitute Charlie Mpi put the result beyond doubt with a superb individual goal.
City are next in action on Saturday with a home match against Corby Town.
