CHRISTMAS shoppers at a seaside village fair were rubbing shoulders with TV celebrity Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen as the Changing Rooms star dropped in to buy some last-minute gifts.
The homestyle consultant and TV personality was spotted shopping at the Porthtowan Christmas Fayre on December 21 with his wife and daughters.
Mandy Vercoe, from Porthtowan Youth Project, which organised the event, said: “Laurence and his wife and two daughters came and stayed for an hour or two, and left with bags of things they had bought from the craft stalls.
“They were really friendly and down-to-earth.
“Laurence commented on the high quality of hand made items, and they really seemed to enjoy themselves.”
The village fete included over 20 craft stalls, tombola and cash raffle.
“Jackie Lewellyn-Bowen won the £80 cash prize in the raffle, which she very generously gave back to the playpark fund,” said Ms Vercoe.
Soul Cafe delivered free lantern making workshops for the children, who then paraded with their lanterns around the village, through the Unicorn pub and back to the tree at the village hall to meet up with St Agnes Silver band to sing carols.
“It was a fabulous atmosphere,” added Ms Vercoe.
