PLANS have been unveiled to move Chacewater Post Office into a convenience store.

The Post Office said the move would extend its hours and widen the range of services.

A six-week consultation has been launched on the plans to move it from 7 Fore Street to Chacewater Happy Shopper.

Post Office regional network manager Tony Jones said: "We're confident this new modern branch will make it easier for our customers to do business with us and also secure services for the future."

At Chacewater, the move would create an extra 56 hours' access to services each week.

The Post Office declined to comment on possible job losses or staffing arrangements.

The consultation closes on January 18. Comments can be sent to comments@postoffice. co.uk or Freepost Your Comments, Post Office Ltd, the customer helpline on 0845 7223344 or textphone 0845 7223355.
