PLANS have been unveiled to move Chacewater Post Office into a convenience store down the road.
The Post Office say the move will mean extended opening hours and a wider range of post office services available.
A six-week consultation has been launched to gather local views on the plans to move the current post office from 7 Fore Street to number 33, to sit inside Chacewater Happy Shopper.
Tony Jones, Post Office regional network manager for Wales and the West of England, said: "We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Truro and we are confident that this new modern branch will make it easier for our customers to do business with us and also secure services for the future."
He adds that the Post Office, now an independent company from Royal Mail, is planning to convert around half of its 11,500 branches into the new style over the next three years.
At Chacewater, the opening hours will create an extra 56 hours access to Post Office services each week.
The Post Office said they couldn't comment on possible job losses or staffing arrangements as the new Post Office and retail aspects would be run by a sub-postmaster who would determine the staffing levels.
The consultation closes on 18 January. Comments can be made by email to firstname.lastname@example.org in writing to FREEPOST Your Comments, Post Office Ltd or the customer helpline on 08457 22 33 44 or textphone 08457 22 33 55.
