THIS was the scene as a lucky driver escaped unhurt after his car careered off the road and flipped over in Hayle.
At about 5am on Monday, the driver, believed to be in his late twenties, was travelling in Carnsew Road when it is thought the car hit the kerb and crashed into a tree before landing on its roof.
PC John Fulker, of Hayle police, said: "Had it not been for the fact that the man driving this vehicle was wearing his seatbelt, this incident would have had a very different and unhappy ending.
"As it is, he has literally walked away from this with no injuries whatsoever. He is a very lucky chap."
PC Fulker said it was unclear whether the car was speeding in the 60mph zone when the accident happened.
