Camborne shoplifter hands police ketamine kept between his buttocks

A shoplifter who was searched while in police custody produced a foil wrap containing the drug Ketamine from between his buttocks Truro magistrates heard.

Brodie Rippingale, 27, c/o Basset Road, Camborne, pleaded guilty to two shoplifting offences involving stealing alcohol, two offences of possession of drugs, and one of failing to respond to bail. He had previous convictions.

Probation officer Gail O’Hagan said he had a history of drug abuse, of anxiety and depression.

Rippingale told the magistrates he was making an effort to sort out his life and addressing his drug issues.

He was given a year’s community order with requirements for supervision, drug rehabilitation and a thinking skills programme. He had to pay compensation of £5.10 and £60 victim surcharge.
