A man with a bizarre fetish for rolling around in slurry, and who terrorised the farm owners in Redruth, has been transferred from a mental hospital to prison.

David Truscott, 41, has a history of rolling naked in cow slurry. He admitted threatening to kill farmer Clive Roth and his family, who he has already subjected to a six year long campaign of harassment and arson.

He was banned from going onto their land at Redruth after being caught repeatedly rolling naked in a muck spreader.

When Mr Roth had the spreader cleaned in a bid to deter him, Truscott became so angry he set fire to the farm.

He has already served three jail sentences as a result of his obsession and refusal to obey court restraining orders which ban him from contacting the family.

He was being treated at a hospital in South Devon when he made his latest threats in June and he has been under assessment by consultant forensic psychiatrist Dr Keith Darnley at the Langdon Hospital in Dawlish since his arrest.

Judge Francis Gilbert, QC, ordered he should be transferred to Exeter Prison to await sentence at Exeter Crown Court next year.

He said: “I have received a letter from Langdon Hospital which says their assessment of the defendant has been concluded and they are awaiting a further specialist examination at St Andrews Hospital.

“In view of the content of this letter I anticipate that Dr Darnley cannot provide any further assessment and therefore I shall remand the defendant in custody to Exeter Prison.

“He pleaded guilty on May 24 and awaits sentence. Langdon have done what they need to do and it is right he should return to prison so his place at the hospital can be taken by someone who needs it.”

Miss Julia Cox, defending, said the report indicated that some of Truscott’s problems arise from him being on the autistic spectrum.

Truscott, formerly of Pengegon Parc, Camborne, has admitted threatening to kill farmer Clive Ross and his family on June 14 last year.

He also admitted threatening to destroy their property at Woodbury House Farm on the same date

Truscott was jailed in 2009 and 2011 for breaching restraining orders, going onto the Roth’s land and rolling naked in slurry.

He was jailed for two years in March 2011 for threatening them after they cleared all the slurry from their farm to stop him.

At that hearing at Truro Crown Court Judge Christopher Elwen told him: “For a period of at least six years, if not longer, you have made the home life of the Roth family absolute hell through your bizarre fetish and disgusting behaviour.”
