CORNWALL College Camborne will be playing host to prospective students next week, opening up the campus to give them a chance to explore each college, find out about new and existing courses, and get advice for their future career.
Visitors to the event at Camborne, which will be held in the college's Campus Central from 5pm to 7.30pm on Thursday, February 6, can sample student life when they talk to staff and current students about the courses on offer, and take a tour of the campus to visit departments and look at the specialist facilities available.
Advisers will also be on hand to offer financial advice, transport information and details of the learning support, Student Xtra activities and Academy Sports Programmes available to students after they enrol.
The science department has some exciting opportunities coming up for September 2014 with two new degree courses – BA (Hons) Human Behaviour and FdSc Analytical Chemistry. Tutors for both courses will be available on February 6 to answer students' questions about undertaking a science degree after completing A levels this summer.
Cornwall College Camborne offers both full and part-time courses in arts, media, music and performing arts, business, administration and law, catering and hospitality, construction trades, engineering and motor vehicle, hair and beauty, health, care and early years, information and communication technology, preparation for life and work, science and animal management, sport and public services and travel and tourism.
Millions of pounds is currently being spent on developments across the campus, including a new industry-standard catering facility and new hairdressing training salons as well as a new music technology suite in dBs Music.
A wide range of foundation degrees, awarded by Plymouth University, which can be studied part-time as well as full-time, and which are designed to fit around work and family commitments, are also available at the college and students interested in studying a degree can find out about places that are still available on current courses and inquire about those beginning in September 2014.
There will also be the opportunity to speak to the Student Services team about tuition fees and eligibility for financial aid through the college or government initiatives.
Staff from Cornwall College Business and the recreational courses team will also be available at Camborne to talk to anyone interested in studying a traineeship, apprenticeship, part-time qualification or leisure course, as well as provide information regarding fees, finance and available courses.
Amarjit Basi, principal and CEO of Cornwall College, said: "As a college, we pride ourselves on providing an excellent range of courses that give our learners the best footing to pursue further study, get on the career ladder, improve their employment prospects or simply do more with their free time.
