A PROLIFIC burglar has admitted to breaking into 24 buildings including a school and two colleges.
At Truro Crown Court on Tuesday, Jamie Read, 23, of Bassett Road, admitted six burglaries including at a bakery in Redruth, Trewirgie Junior School, Truro College and Cornwall College.
Between August 5 and 8 last year, Read stole 24 Apple iPads from Trewirgie Junior School.
On September 5 he broke into the Hideaway Bar in Redruth and took cash, nine bottles of spirits and Jägermeister.
On December 11 he broke into the catering department at Cornwall College’s Pool campus where he stole keys, cash and a Peugeot van.
Later that same day he broke into Berryman’s Bakery and took charity boxes.
On December 12 he broke into the Kenwyn building at Truro College and stole a purse and an Apple iPhone 4S.
Between December 26 and 31 he burgled Sure Start’s Lescudjack Centre in Penzance.
Appearing in court from custody, Read also asked for 18 other similar offences to be taken into consideration in his sentence.
Court liaison probation officer Mary Lewis said: “He is what is known as a prolific offender.”
Judge Margaret Rylands said she felt the court would be assisted by a probation report on Read and adjourned the case to March 14 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
