Bude florist reaches the final in Diamond Jubilee competition at RHS Chelsea

Professional florist Erica Tippett reached the final round of this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show after being nominated for Junior Florist of the Year 2012.

Working from Bleujen Florist in Bude, Erica, 25, saw off tough competition to gain a place in this year’s show. She achieved an amazing 91 points out of 100 with her qualifying arrangement; a gorgeous table top arrangement that utilising test tubes, perspex and some really beautiful flowers.

In regards to this year’s ‘Diamonds are Forever’ theme at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, tying in with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the finalists had to create a floral chandelier to be hung at the Queen’s Jubilee celebration dinner.

Erica’s design included four circular ‘tiers’, decorated with an assortment of fresh flowers in various colours and beautiful dangling crystals.

Erica and the other finalists were competing for Gold, Silver-Gilt, Silver and Bronze medals, awarded by the judges from The UK Floristry Judges Guild on behalf of the RHS.
