BODMIN’S Neighbourhood Policing Team is reintroducing its drop-in centres with the aim of increasing accessibility to the local community.

The centres will run every Wednesday across five sites and will be open to everybody as they are no longer specific only to the town.

Sergeant Jared Connop said the centres will provide the public with opportunities to meet members of the neighbourhood team and to access non-urgent information.

Sergeant Connop said: “Our aim is to provide a service which enables the public to access non urgent information and advice from their ‘Neighbourhood Police Team’ every Wednesday.

“We understand that some people don’t feel comfortable attending the police station, and others feel that their issue isn’t worthy of bothering police, so our hope is that these centres will encourage the public to speak with us about their concerns in an informal manner and setting.”

Alongside these centres PCSO Debbie Knowlden will be running a service at Bodmin College for students and staff, which will run every other Monday, starting on Monday, March 3.

“This is an ideal opportunity for young people to also engage with their Neighbourhood Police Team and to raise any concerns that they might have, and we believe the centre will further develop the strong relationship PCSO Knowlden has with the college,” PCSO Andrea Crocker said.

The general centres will be operating at the following locations and times:

First Wednesday of the month: Morrisons Foyer 10am-1pm. Second Wednesday of the month: One Stop Shop(Bodmin Library) 11am-1pm and Flashpoint Centre Walker Lines industrial estate 10am-2pm. Third Wednesday of the month – Berryfields 10am-12pm. Fourth Wednesday of the month: Sainsburys 11am-1pm.

The Bodmin College centres will be operating on March 3, 17 and 31, April 28, May 12, June 9 and 23 and July 7 and 21.
