A BODMIN man has admitted robbing a pharmacy of pain medication he was addicted to.
At Truro Crown Court on Tuesday, Steven Smith, 45, of St Mary’s Road, pleaded guilty to robbing the Day Lewis pharmacy in Bodmin of two boxes of Tramadol.
Julia Cox, defending, said: “Mr Smith has a long-standing Tramadol addiction which he informed the police of at the time of his arrest.”
Ms Cox said Smith had been put on a withdrawal programme and was being prescribed four tablets a day but took up to 30 a day.
The court heard Smith had no previous convictions and Judge Christopher Harvey Clark, QC, adjourned the case to next month for sentence in order to get a report from Smith’s doctor.
