A motorcyclist who was involved in an accident in Newquay yesterday has died in hospital.

The single-vehicle collision involving a black Aprilia 1000cc motorcycle happened at around 2.25pm on the A3058 between Summercourt and Brighton Cross.

Police said the motorcycle left the road on a bend and hit a tree.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and the 56-year-old rider was airlifted to Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.

The St Columb man suffered serious injuries and later died.

His family have been informed, but formal identification of the body is yet to take place.

The road was closed for around four hours while police conducted a full investigation.

Sergeant Jane Corkhill, of the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit, said: “We are very interested in speaking to anyone who was in the area at the time, in particular driving along the B3275 or the A3058, who either witnessed the collision or saw an Aprilia motorcycle driving just prior to the incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting log 498 of 09/03/14.

Klara Parryuer is a totally inconsiderate, unfeeling TW*T! Will the Cornish Guardian ever learn how to stop the blessed spam messages, I shouldn't think so they are more interested in deleting regular serious commentators.
