It could be the chance of a lifetime for anyone who wants a fast-track to instant fame.

The Big Brother production team will be in the Mid-Cornwall area scouting for potential participants.

The series, which revolutionised reality television, was first launched in 2000.

The programme has legions of fans but also repels some viewers who feel the format plumbs new depths of vulgarity.

The production team behind the show will be in Truro, Falmouth and Redruth at the end of the month and are looking for possible contestants.

Lauren Tee from Endemol UK said: "Whether you're 18 or 80 as long as you're a passionate, vibrant and interesting individual with a zest for life and a story to tell, then you could make a fantastic housemate.

"This could be your chance to have the summer of a lifetime and the opportunity to win a life changing amount of money."

The team will be at the Zone nightclub in Redruth on January 24, at Mango's in Falmouth on January 25 and at the Office in Truro on January 26.

Applicants must be aged 18 or over by 28 February 28, 2013 and photo ID will be required when applying to take part in the auditions.

Reality TV shows are not real as nobody ever acts normally in front of a TV camera and there are far too many trashy "reality" shows at present. Teaching non-skaters to skate - turning non-dancers into dancing stars and even plumbing the depths with the Tom Daley waste of time teaching people to dive. I can't understand the mentality of the people who produce these shows or those who watch them.
