PERRANPORTH surfer Ben Skinner is poised to retain his title of European Longboard Champion.

Mr Skinner, 23, claimed first place on the Moroccan leg of the championship tour and now only needs to finish in the top five at the last round in Portugal.

In the meantime Mr Skinner, son of Truro brewery boss Steve, has been battling it out in the World Longboard Championships at Hainan Island, China, where he finished 12th.

He wrote on Twitter: "I haven't won the whole tour yet. I have to just make top five in Portugal in December. Nearly there though."
