Fire crews from Falmouth spent two hours dealing with a fire on board a barge moored at Jubilee Wharf, in Penryn.
The ten metres long by three metres wide barge, which was being used as living accommodation, was heavily smoke logged when two fire crews arrived at 11pm last night.
Firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, searched the barge and put out the fire using one hosereel. Falmouth Coastguard rescue team was also called to the wharf to provide waterside safety cover during the operation.
The emergency crews damped down hotspots, cleared the smoke and carried out investigations to establish what caused the fire, leaving the scene at 1.10am.
