A LOCAL charity has benefited after bank staff raised more than £5,000 during 2013.
Staff at Barclays held fundraising activities across their branches in Cornwall to raise the total donated to the West Cornwall Youth Trust.
The bank chose the trust as its charity of the year and fundraising activities including a 'Cornish day' and a community Christmas party, with staff dressing up on both occasions.
Sonia Bass, manager of the Truro branch, said: "Barclays encouraged all of its staff to get involved with the local community as much as possible.
"As well as raising money for the West Cornwall Youth Trust, we have also helped out at some of the events organised by the charities that they support."
West Cornwall Youth Trust was set up in 2009 to help charities that work with young people who are underprivileged, financially constrained, socially disadvantaged or who have specific disabilities.
Nick Fletcher, who is a trustee of the charity, said: "Working with Barclays last year enabled the bank to offer practical help to some of the organisations that we've supported previously and also allowed us to offer donations to several more that applied to us during the year.
"Our work will continue in 2014 and we are most grateful to Barclays for their help during 2013."
