THE Army will hold a series of recruitment events in Truro to attract new full-time and part-time soldiers.
The events are part of the campaign 'More Than Meets The Eye' which aims to raise awareness about Army life and the variety of roles on offer.
Major General Chris Tickell, from the Army recruiting and training division, said: "We want to challenge public perception that the Army consists purely of frontline combat roles. We want to show potential recruits who are perhaps thinking about how they can improve their lives and careers, that there is much more to the Army than meets the eye."
The events will be held at the Army Reserve Centre on Moresk Road every Tuesday evening from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and visitors will get the chance to talk to serving troops.
Trooper Marcus Cribb, who has been in the Army reserves for four years, said: "Being in the Army has opened up so many opportunities that I wouldn't have achieved elsewhere.
"Not many people realise that the reserves have all the same opportunities as regular soldier.
"I would encourage anyone looking for an exciting challenge and new opportunity outside of their day job to join."
The news comes after the Government announced it is to reconsider the planned relocation of Truro-based part-time regiment 6 Rifles D company to Devon.
