A WOMAN has been left shocked and upset after being sexually assaulted on a train, British Transport Police have said.
The victim was travelling from Penzance when she said she was inappropriately touched by a fellow passenger.
Investigators have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident, which took place between 7pm and 7.30pm on Sunday, November 11.
"The victim was left shocked and deeply upset by this attack," said investigating officer, Detective Constable Dave Bailey.
"Incidents like this are very rare but this was clearly a very distressing experience for the victim. We'll do everything in our power to catch the person responsible.
"Enquiries are ongoing."
The incident happened as the woman walked towards the toilet in the middle carriage of the train. As she passed a group of men sat in the carriage, she was approached by one of them who touched her inappropriately.
"The men left the service when it arrived at Truro station," said DC Bailey.
The 30 year old victim was on board the 7.10pm Penzance  to Exeter St Davids service when the assault took place.
