POLICE in Redruth are appealing for witnesses after a woman was raped in the town.

The 24-year-old victim left the Twilight Zone nightclub at about 3.20am on September 23.

She headed towards Tesco car park in Tolgus Hill, where she saw a group of around four men and two women arguing.

She walked through Tolgus Vean and along the Leats, the alleyway beside the car park, where she was raped. After the attack, she headed back to the Tesco area, where there were other clubgoers and taxis.

Officers are keen to speak to people who were in the car park area at the time and may have seen the suspects.

The senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Pete Simms, said: "We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area of the Twilight Zone nightclub or the Tesco car park following the club finishing at 3am to contact our inquiry team.

"We would like them to help us by giving us information about who they may have seen in the area or any untoward behaviour they may recall.

"We are keen to speak to all potential witnesses, who may be unaware that they hold vital information."

The police can be contacted on 101, or witnesses contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting reference AC/12/3787.
