Time to get your skates on and head down to the Eden Project’s new ice rink opening on October 20.
The rink is beautifully designed with a winter wonderland of glittering icy tunnels, stunning light displays and glacial ice walls surrounding the skating arena.
General skating is open every weekday afternoon from 3pm, all day Saturday and from midday on Sunday until it closes for the season on March 3, 2013.
A skate costs £6 per 40-minute session. On Wednesdays skaters can take advantage of the mid-week saver rate and get 90 minutes on the rink for no extra cost.
A variety of specialist ice sessions are also on offer including parent and toddler ice-play for children under six years old. The session is skate-free and Eden provides sledges and toys to play with on the rink. Each session lasts 90 minutes and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Ice-play takes place on Tuesday and Sunday mornings and entry to the session is £3 per child with one adult free.
For children between the ages of 6 and 12, the Chilly Juniors sessions return on Sunday mornings with races and games for confident skaters and fun with penguin skating aids and tips from instructors for beginners. Each session is £5 per child.
Frequent flyers on the ice can buy season passes for unlimited skates during any General Session. A pass costs £110 for the whole season or £60 for the second half of the season (starting Boxing Day 2012)
Sessions are also available for groups from schools and nurseries on every weekday while the rink is open. Sessions cost £5 per child and include admission to Eden. Booking can be made by emailing email@example.com.
Ramon Van de Velde, Eden Project Visitor Services Manager, said: “We are really excited about the return of the ice rink. There are sessions for all ages and abilities and a rink within the beautiful setting that Eden always provides. Get your skates on!”
The ice-rink plays a central role in autumn and winter at Eden including the spook-tastic half-term Halloweden from October 27 and a winter festival which starts in November.
There is limited capacity for all of Eden’s skating sessions, so visitors are advised to pre-book to avoid disappointment. Skating costs do not include admission to the Eden Project.
